European oak is commonly used for barrels to age red wines and a range a liquors.

It is found throughout Great Britain, central and western Europe. Growing in large stands with wide trunks, wide, long boards are commonly available.

European Oak is pale yellow brown, ranging to light yellow to almost white near sapwood. Can sometimes exhibit a pink tinge.
